I found a pair of semi-cowboy boots, that I believe would be so extremely versatile, (think: for all but formal events and job interviews), that I felt I had to share. I tried to find similar styles in wide and extra wide widths. This boot style just below, and the one at the top of our newly updated wide width footwear page, are as close as I could come to the style that inspired all this.
Ariat’s boot below comes in sizes 5.5 to 9.5, 10 and 11, in this color, black and mission brown, in widths up to wide and costs $140. At least is has over 200 reviews and a 5 star rating!
As cowboy boots go, judging from what I could find this AM, that come in widths of at least wide, this is one of the few versatile, not too ornate, styles I found at Zappos, One Stop Plus and Avenue, (none at Avenue, don’t bother looking).

Sadly more expensive Extra Wide Cowboy Boots
Available, in limited sizes, these defiantly cowboy boots styled boots are by Elites, for $216. If you click on their picture you will find them at ShoeBuy. This style comes in sizes up to 10.5 and whole sizes 11 to 13 in wide and extra wide widths.
The good news about this style is its two excellent reviews are from women who wear extra wide and wide width boots!
Also at ShoeBuy, in limit whole sizes only, so far…These Anita Allysa boots are available in more extra wide sizes in this mocha leather than in their black leather color. This style comes in sizes 7 to 13, Medium to Extra Wide, for $275.
The good news is that if you search Women’s footwear by Anita in Extra Wide and Boots at Shoe Buy, you will currently find 22 styles, of varying modern and vintage modes.
The versatile boot style that inspired all this
This cowboy--ish slouch boot, only comes in medium widths. It is also one of several of its ilk, in medium widths, at Zappos. These are on sale for just $45, and if it was not off budget for me I’d snatch up a pair in my size while they last!
There are plenty of taller boots, heels and the like in widths up to extra wide and especially wide widths at on line stores. Certain styles, like cowboy boots and the like are not quite as available. Not yet and what is there is pricey!
